Seasonal Festivals & Celebrations
Our school year is marked by rich, living traditions—gatherings that mirror the turning of the seasons, the spirit of place, and the rhythm of child development.
Rose Ceremony & First Day Assembly – August 14
We open the school year with a reverent gathering of song and verse. Older students gift rose necklaces to younger peers in a symbolic gesture of welcome, mentorship, and unity.
Michaelmas Festival – September 26
A celebration of courage, light, and inner strength as we honor the changing season.
All Hallows’ Eve – October 30
An imaginative festival of light in the darkness, drawing on story and wonder.
Día de los Muertos (Spanish) – November 3
A cultural honoring of ancestors and remembrance through altar-making and stories.
Lantern Walk (Grades K–2) – November 14
As dusk falls, children walk quietly with hand-made lanterns, symbolizing the inner light we carry through darkening days.
Thanksgiving Address (All School Assembly) – November 25
A moment to pause in gratitude with words of reverence and reflection.
Guadalupe/Winter Spiral (Grades K–2) – December 12
Children walk a spiral of evergreens, each holding a single candle—an expression of hope, peace, and inner light.
Solstice Fest & Las Posadas (Grades 3 & 6) – December 19
A joyful multicultural celebration of the longest night, journeying together in song and light.
Los Reyes Magos (Spanish) – January 7
A celebration of Three Kings Day with traditional foods and stories.
Candlemas (Grades 3 & 6) – February 2
Marking the return of light and clarity in the year ahead.
Earth Day, Stewardship, and Grandfriends Day – April 22
A morning of appreciation and care for the Earth and our extended community.
May Day & Maypole Celebration – May 1
Bright ribbons and joyful dance weave spring’s abundance into a tapestry of community spirit.
Rose Ceremony (Graduation) – May 20
A final blessing for our oldest students as they prepare to step beyond our gates.
End-of-Year Field Day & Family Picnic – May 29
A festive farewell of games, gratitude, and community connection.

All-School & Teacher Meet & Greet – August 12, 6–7:30 PM
Gather in Hooper Hall and classrooms to connect before the school year begins.

Outdoor & Experiential Learning
Field Trips & Nature Immersion
Students explore the forests, farms, and cultural heritage of the Santa Fe region. Trips include:
Grade 1 & 2 – Overnight on campus (May, dates TBD)
Grade 3 – Golondrinas Harvest Festival & La Jara Farm (Spring)
Grade 4 – Bandelier & local excursions (May TBD)
Grade 6 – Medieval Games & Great Sand Dunes (May TBD)
Pentathlon Experience (Grade 5) – May, date TBD
